About Hilton Herbs

The Founders of Hilton Herbs Ltd, Hilary and Tony Self, are still as passionate about what they do as when they first started making herbal supplements for animals in the stable yard of their Victorian farmhouse in Surrey back in 1990.

Since then Hilton Herbs has grown apace and in 1993 the business was relocated to North Perrott in rural Somerset, where a purpose-built facility has been constructed, where all Hilton Herbs herbal products are manufactured under an EU accreditation scheme, to ensure safety and traceability of all product ingredients.

From the very beginning Hilary and Tony's aim was to not only provide their customers with top-quality natural products, but to back them up with a professional, friendly and knowledgeable Helpline, providing in-depth information on herbal and complementary healthcare for animals. Hilary successfully undertook a BSc degree in Herbal Medicine, qualifying in 2001 as a Medical Herbalist. In addition to working at Hilton Herbs, Hilary also runs her own human herbal practice and continues to carry out clinical research into the application of herbs for horses. Hilary has lectured on the use of herbs for horses and dogs at numerous veterinary seminars, equestrian events and workshops in Australia, New Zealand, America, Austria and the UK.

Hilton Herbs is quite possibly the only UK company manufacturing herbal and natural healthcare products for animals that can claim to have all its products formulated by a qualified Medical Herbalist. Hilary has also written two books, providing further information on the application of herbs for horses, which are sold worldwide and are available in five languages.

Hilton Herbs continues to develop its product range, thanks to the undying enthusiasm of both the founders and the great team of people who work for them. It is amazing to think a company that started life 20 years ago as the vision of two individuals has grown into an established business, providing herbal and natural healthcare products for horses, dogs, poultry, racing pigeons and birds, to customers worldwide.

Hilton Herbs for Horses

The aim of the Hilton Herbs dedicated Horse section is to endeavour to answer any questions you may have, and provide full information on the use and application of their herbs for horses supplements and natural healthcare products..

Whether you're looking for herbal calmers, joint supplements, herbs for coat and skin, or natural products to help support immunity, nerves and hormones, digestion, hoof health, or older horses, you can be sure of finding the right product to help keep your horse fit and healthy.

Herbs and Horses: A wild horse lives freely, grazing naturally in a gentle continuum of movement, following seasonal plants to help it maintain optimal health according to its needs. The modern day horse on the other hand, may spend much of its day in a stable, devoid of mental stimulation, isolated from others of its kind, removed from the interaction of its species, and eating highly processed foods. This can only have a detrimental effect on both its mental and physical well-being.

By feeding the appropriate herbal supplements for horses we can greatly enhance their health. Herbs reconnect them to their roots, giving them the power to maintain health as their wild cousins do.

Many of the problems we see in our horses develop as a direct result of inadequate grazing and turnout time and insufficient exercise or mental stimulus with little or no opportunity to interact with other horses.

Horses are herd creatures and need the company of their own kind if they are to flourish both physically and mentally, 'as nature intended.'
